Slow

Typing is still hard to do - easier to make movies these days. With that in mind I remember when I first came to Australia. I had written a song just before I got here and my step-daughter (who was only 16) wanted to make a video to go along with it - so at great expense (I reckon the budget ran to about $18 for petrol to get to the top of a mountain) Here it is - I found bits of it in this lap top and put it together with new titles today - You are allowed to be scathing about the song lol - I can take it :) Don't knock the Director though - she's just a wee lass armed with enthusiasm and a cheap camera. The female backing vocalist on this is a barmaid I met in Scotland and I thought she had a great voice - she's now a nationally renowned singer - Claire McNeill.

  1. You are indeed a (one armed at the moment) man of hidden talents Rory! Given a secret liking of country music, I like the song very much. I now it's not "country" but it does have some influence no?
And your step-daughter is talented too... loved the video.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Ha Craig! When I first wrote and performed it folks used to say 'Very Country' and I'd bite their heads off lol - As time has passed I've given in to the belief that yes it is 'Very Country' - maybe I should have gone down the Country route instead of rock and I'd have gotten somewhere lol...

    Good to hear from you!

  3. Very cool! Great job by both you and your step-daughter. And, yep, I got the "country" feel from it too.

  5. Your being one handed has enabled us to see the many many sides of Rory.

  6. Maybe I've been in Canada too long, but that's a damn fine country song. ;) If they played it on the country station, it would stand out above all the cheese. Kudos! And your step-daughter has a talent too! Slooo-o-o-o-ow... it's in my head now.

  7. Wow. No end to your talents. And you're still young, ya know. It isn't too late to "go country." (But don't throw out the rock entirely.)

  8. Mate, that is AWESOME! Love the riff... Great hook in it! Very Aussie too! :) By the way... Is that the boardwalk stretch up in the Tamborine Mountains? Looks familiar! ;)

  9. LOL Thanks folks - I'm genuinely humbled by your kindness. Cre8tive it IS the boardwalk at Tamborine mountain lol - most of it was filmed on top of the Mountain. I really like it up there but that Rainforest part with the boardwalk has a wee bit too many brown snakes in it for me to be comfortable walking around there lol...

  10. Hey, you really do have a terrific voice and the backing vocals are excellent. I also enjoyed the instrumental with you sitting at the bottom of the waterfall - beautiful :-)
